Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 9, 2026

Coin of Fate is built by TEKKNIGHTS. This Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Coin of Fate mobile app ("the App"). The short version: the App has no accounts, no login, and no server of ours — every decision you flip is stored only on your own device. This page explains the small amount of anonymous, technical data collected by the third-party services we rely on (crash reporting, analytics, and advertising), and the choices you have over all of it.

1. The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not know your name unless you choose to type one into your local profile, and we do not run a server that stores your flips. Your decision history, profile, and preferences live in your device's local storage and are deleted the moment you uninstall the App or use the in-app "Clear history" option. The only data that leaves your device is limited, mostly anonymous technical information used to keep the App stable (crash reports), understand feature usage in aggregate (analytics, which you can turn off), show relevant ads (only where described below), and process purchases (handled entirely by Apple / Google, never by us).

2. Information we do not collect

We do not collect, and the App does not ask you for:

  • Your real name, email address, or phone number (the optional in-app profile name is never transmitted anywhere — it stays on your device).
  • Your precise location.
  • Photos, contacts, camera or microphone access — the App never requests these permissions.
  • The actual text of your decisions ("Heads" / "Tails" options you type in) — this content is never logged, transmitted, or read by us or by our analytics provider.
  • Payment details such as card numbers — these are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play, never by the App itself.

3. Information stored only on your device

To make the App work, the following is saved locally using your device's standard app storage, and is never uploaded to any server we control:

  • Decision history — the options you flipped between, the result, your "gut" answer, whether they matched, the coin skin used, and the timestamp.
  • Optional profile — a display name and a preset emoji avatar you choose from a built-in grid. No photo uploads are ever involved.
  • Preferences — theme, language, selected coin skin, sound/haptics toggles, and whether the gut-check prompt and Trends tab are enabled.
  • Purchase & unlock records — which coin skins/themes you've purchased or temporarily unlocked via a rewarded ad, so the App can display and honour them.

You can export this data (as CSV, Markdown or a JSON backup), re-import a previous backup, or permanently clear it at any time from Settings → Data. Uninstalling the App deletes all of it immediately and irreversibly, since nothing is backed up on our end.

4. Information collected automatically

The App uses a small set of well-known third-party services to stay reliable and to understand, in aggregate, how the App is used. None of these services receive your decision content, your profile name, or anything you type into the App.

4.1 Crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)

Automatically collects technical crash and error reports (device model, OS version, app version, and the point of failure) so we can fix bugs. This is on by default for every user, as it is not used for behavioural tracking or advertising — it exists purely to keep the App working.

4.2 Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)

Collects anonymous, aggregated usage events (for example, "a flip was completed" or "a theme was changed") to help us understand which features are useful. On iOS this is gated behind Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt on first launch; if you choose "Ask App Not to Track," analytics collection is switched off and the App works identically. You can also toggle this at any time from Settings → Privacy → "Help improve the app."

4.3 Remote configuration (Firebase Remote Config)

Fetches non-personal configuration values (for example, minimum supported app version, or whether the occasional app-open ad is currently enabled). It does not collect any information about you individually.

4.4 Advertising (Google AdMob)

Coin of Fate shows a limited number of ads, described fully in Section 5 below. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may use device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads according to Google's own Privacy Policy. You can reset or limit your device's advertising identifier at any time from your phone's system settings, and any purchase that removes ads stops all ad requests entirely.

5. Where and when you'll see ads

We treat the moment you're actually making a decision as off-limits for advertising. Ads only ever appear in the following places, and never during the Flip → Gut-check → Verdict sequence:

PlacementTypeTrigger
Coin skin / theme unlock sheetRewarded (opt-in)Only when you tap "Watch ad" to unlock a coin or theme for a limited time.
History tabBannerAlways visible while browsing past flips; removed entirely by any coin/ad-removal purchase.
App openInterstitialAt most once every 7 days, never on first launch, never for users who've made a purchase.
After a "gut was wrong" verdictInterstitial (rare)Only occasionally, and only after you've already left the verdict screen.

Any purchase that unlocks a coin permanently, or a future "remove ads" purchase, disables the banner and every interstitial for that device.

6. In-app purchases

Coin skins can be unlocked permanently through a one-time purchase processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never see or store your payment information. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID / Google account and can be re-applied on a new device at any time using the in-app "Restore purchases" option. Ad-based unlocks are a free, temporary 24-hour pass stored only on your device; because there is no server, this temporary pass does not survive an app reinstall or a device change (a note to this effect is shown in the App itself).

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy, linked above where applicable.

8. Children's privacy

Coin of Fate includes a playful "Kids" theme, but the App is designed the same way for every user: no accounts, no personal information requested, and no behavioural data tied to an individual beyond the anonymous, opt-out analytics described in Section 4.2. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If the App is used by a child, we recommend a parent or guardian supervise any in-app purchases, since these are processed by the device's app store and may require store-level parental controls.

9. Your choices

  • Turn off analytics anytime via Settings → Privacy, or by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS.
  • Export, back up, or delete your entire decision history and profile via Settings → Data.
  • Limit ad tracking from your device's system-level privacy settings, or remove ads entirely with a purchase.
  • Uninstall the App to delete everything stored locally — there is nothing left on any server to request deletion of, since we never received it.

10. Data security

Because your decision data never leaves your device, it is protected by your device's own security (passcode, encryption, biometric lock). The limited technical data sent to Crashlytics, Analytics and AdMob is transmitted securely and handled under each provider's own security practices.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add a new feature or third-party service. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version, and continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
